  • For converting Y Km/hr into m/sec –Y Km/hr = ( Y * 5/18) m/sec
  • For converting Y m/sec into km/hr –Y m/sec = ( Y * 18/5) Km/hr
  • Time taken by a train of length X metres to pass a pole or a standing man or a signal post is equal to the time taken by the train to cover X metres.
  • Time taken by a train of length X metres to pass an object of length Y metres will be the time taken by the train to cover (X + Y) metres.
  • If two trains or objects are moving in same direction at x m/sec and y m/sec respectively, where x > y, then their relative speed will be (x– y) m/sec.
  • If two trains or objects are moving in opposite direction at x m/sec and y m/sec respectively, where x > y, then their relative speed will be (x– y) m/sec.
  • If two trains are moving in opposite direction,of length a and b metres and moving with speed of x m/sec and y m/sec respectively, then the time taken by trains to cross each other is {(a+b)/(x+y)} seconds.
  • If two trains are moving in same direction,of length a and b metres and moving with speed of x m/sec and y m/sec respectively, then the time taken by faster train to cross slower train is {(a+b)/(x-y)} seconds.
